"Scones for thrones and humble homes"

Today my interest goes to the SCONES and teatime.

I share here a nice recipe I found on this website:

Ingredients
  1. 2 cups self rising flour
  2. 1 pinch of salt
  3. 2 tbsp sugar
  4. 1 tsp baking powder
  5. 6 tbsp very cold butter (cut into half inch cubes)
  6. 3/4 cup fresh milk
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with a slightly buttered parchment paper.
  2. Mix all of the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Add the butter and with cold fingers work the butter into the dough until it resembles bread crumbs. Be very careful not to overwork this dough and the butter melts with warm hands. Alternately you can place all the dry ingredients and butter in a food processor and pulse until the desired consistency is reached.
  3. Add the milk and work with a wooden spoon (or food processor) to get a nice and smooth dough that separates easily from the walls of the bowl. Again, don't overwork the dough. It's important not to press down on it so you don't press the air out of the mixture. Let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
  4. Turn the dough into a lightly floured surface. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough lightly until it is about 3/4 inch thick. Cut as many scones possible with a 2 1/4 inch cutter. Try to press the cutter down in a single move without moving it in a circular motion. Doing that will affect the final shape of the scone as it raises in the oven. If any dough is left from cutting the scones, you can roll it out again and cut some more, but you risk them being a bit hard because they won't be as airy.
  5. Put the scones on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  6. Serve inmediatly or keep for up to 2 days on an air tight container at room temperature.
Notes
  1. Perfect for tea or coffee time. Have them with clotted cream, jam, butter, or a combination of all! Enjoy!

Relaxing time

Summer is here and holidays are on top!

I am going to share some ideas about how to create a special corner to relax and dream... during the summer afternoons or evenings! Mornings are included, too...

So, my first item is a perfect sofa or an armchair!

I have just found this one in the ikea shop:

JENNYLUND, Byvik

I love it because it is comfortable and if you like reading it is quite practical.

I know it might seem too much, but these curtains are perfect if you choose to have an armachair of a different colour.

Roses for Bella Floral Curtain Panels - Set of 2

All you need is a nice table for the books or the cups of tea and coffee. Cakes are not left out, of course!

Mesa de centro vintage Nerita de lujo

This is a beautiful table and you can have it in different colours. Check the website for further
information. It could be the star of the living room!

If you find this table too sophisticated, you can choose one that is simple and equally practical:

Velador Vintage corazón 1

Now that you have these items, perhaps some you need a lamp.

Vintage. Lámpara de pie. Años 30.

You can opt for many models. I like this vintage lamp I found on a website where you can find many other items for the home.

These are some details I wouldn't leave aside from my living room.

You can also add a clock to check the time, from time to time, or a painting that could add a cosier air to the relaxing corner.

If you like a black and white picture, convert it into a brilliant painting that you can digitally print at the local photography store!

when I was looking for black and white pictures online, I found this one: it perfectly matches the idea of time!

And now that all is ready for the break, if you need some special cups, I can recommend you these one!

Last weekend, I visited A loja do gato preto and I saw that they sell these birdy cups: they are so cute!

The cups are available in tea or coffee sizes, so you can make your own choice!

Bake some cupcakes or some scones, bring the tea and enjoy the summer!

Make the best of your relaxing corner!

Bedrooms and magic corners

This post is about bedrooms and I will try to make a decorating project using blue and red, as they are my favourite colours and I like to combine them in my bedroom.

Blue corner: if you have a shelf or a bookcase, use some blue jars or vases to add some blue spots!

Add some jelly teddies  and you'll always have a sweet touch at hand!

A rose bouquet is simply perfetc!!!

You can combine some bottles of different colours:

If you opt for blue curtains, in this case you should try to balance the tones and use red perhaps for the blankets.

Visit your local store to choose textures and sizes!

As you can see in this picture, a lamps of the same colour could match the composition!

 white or blue shade

If next to the window there is enough place to place a little chest, you could easily use blue and white or even silver cushions.  Apart from being useful to store things, it offers a vintage air to the room.
I am a fan of vintage chests! I use my chest as a window bench, but you can use it as an accent table, hall accent or bedroom linen trunk.

Cojines Plateados Be creative!

You can choose the same model in red, too.

Cojín Brokeline vino. 45x45 cm.

Play with shapes and colours!!

Cojín de terciopelo rojo 60 x 60 cm

Rectangular cushions are nice, too:

For the bed, you can choose some tones of white: pearl or cream.

Visit the links below for more models!!

If you like carpets, you can pick one that can combine these colours. It depends on the space available and the size of the bedroom, of course.

I like this one:

If you want a red one, you should choose a different colour for the blankets and the room will look more balanced and the general effect won't be very adressive, as both blue and red are very strong colours.

You can combine these colours with a white king size bed:

Cama 160 × 200 cm de metal blanca

As you can see, there are some many details that can embellish our bedrooms!

You can even try to paint a wall using a navy blue tone! It will make your bedroom feel magical!

Use your imagination and get some inspiration from deco magazines and pictures that you can easily google!!

Find in your local area the sores that sell products for interiors!

I leave you here my favourite website for further ideas!
