Sewing experience

These are the textures I used for some simple sewing projects: skirts and dresses, vests, pillow cases and a duvet case.

I also made a little bag for keeping the bread and some colourful tea cloths rings!

My 1st felt book

This post is about my 1sr felt book!
I made it for Katie and it was a special present.

I have to say that I am not good at crafts but this DIM project brought me so much joy!

I had the felt images already cut from a past project with kids and I only adapted them and "wrote" A STORY ABOUT SEASONS.

I hope you like it!

I wish I could make more felt books!

It is fun and rewarding seeing it!

Birdcage veil: DIY session

This is probably the word that freezes any bride!

I have to admit that I love headdresses and apart from hats, they are my second fashion-passion!

After reading the article HEADDRESSES AT LONDON FASHION WEEKEND 2013, I decided to focus more on the birdcage veils and I will dedicate this post to DIY birdcage veils!

My favourite pin is this one, which shows us step by step how to get one sweet and simple BV.

This is another how to do and I hope you get even more ideas!

Try to make your own birdcage veil and you will see that it could be even easier than you have ever thought!

Decorating time: black or white

I am going to paste here pictures and links of special items I love about interior decorating.
I prefer metal as a base material, but wood could fit in many cases.

Today, I am going to focus on black and white and I will make a selection of products available online and that could bring a special touch to a special corner in your house!

Enjoy this experience!

1. Coat racks with/without umbrella stand. Umbrella Holder Coat Rack

2. Chairs

I have to admit that some days aho I bought a similar umbrella holder coat rack and it looks great at the entrance hall.

I am a fan of these ikea chairs (LÄCKÖ). I have two that match perfectly a corner in my house. Next to the window, they add a special air of relax!

They can be undoubtly used for any balcony or even in a small terrace!

The black ones are even more beautiful in a terrace surrounded by plants.

If you use some red cushions the effect will be even cozier!

LÄCKÖ Chair, outdoor IKEA The drain hole in the seat lets water drain out. Can be stacked, which helps you save space.
3. Mirrors

Mirrors are also elegant and I really like the rectangular ones, horizonatally placed on a wall that you can paint using tones of violet or green!

Full Length Leaning Mirrors are nice and they can be placed also on the wall where the sofa is.

Another option is to use 3 square wall mirrors and this way you simply picture the wall!

Elements Set of 3 Black Curl Wall Mirrors

Sometimes, we just have to play with some simple details and colours.

Elements Set of 3 Black Curl Wall Mirrors

One of my friends used this ikea mirror in one bedroom and it looks spectacular!

EKNE Espejo IKEA Con película de seguridad. Así se eliminan los riesgos de dañarse si el vidrio se rompe. Se puede colgar horizontal o verticalmente.

In case you want to add a Victorian touch to the walls, use a mirror inspired in the Victorian style.

4. Floor Lamps

A final touch in a cosy corner should be added by a nice metal lamp.
A floor lamp can be perfectly placed next to the sofa in the living room or next to the bed, if you finally want a floor lamp in the bedroom.

Cirrus Bronze Floor Lamp

Table lamps are a good option if you simply need some extra light and you can find a good place for it, on a shelf or bookcase.

You can play again with colours and you can adapt the lamp to the curtains and blankets!

5. Iron Metal Sofas

I know they can be heavy but they are simply stylish!

This iron metal daybed could be the perfect detail in your living room!
There are many models and they can be the best place to relax in your guest room!

I must say that it is an attractive addition to any room! What I love best about these daybeds is that they are usually designed with delicate antique finishes that are meant to add just the right touch of elegance in any corner of the house!

Hats and hatters

Every time I see a hat I feel happy and I remember The Mad Hatter's words:

Hats were more than an accessory. They were a sign of social status and also a symbol of authority.

Nowadays, hats are worn less and only some people choose to wear a hat for a special occasion.

It depends on the country or the social class, but hats are still  fashionable.

I think that hats become a part of the personality of the person that wears them.

There are many styles and different sizes.

While reading about hats, I found this article and it includes the core information on my topic:

A hat is a cover for the head, it can be in any form, soft or structured, smart, casual or practical but it has a shape given to it, as opposed to a simple wrap or scarf. It has had much significance over the years and can be worn for many reasons. Some of which are listed below.
To show status
As part of a uniform
To act as sun shade
For reasons of hygiene
For protection
To enhance height
To convey a message
For religious reasons
For political reasons
For head warmth
To accessorise clothing
To hide hair or lack of it
To attract attention
A hat is the article of clothing worn most closely to the brain and to many the hat is a very special item. It brings attention to the head, although it can be used both to hide the face or frame it and at certain times do both, adding an air of mystery to the wearer. A hat can change the total look of the wearer, ranging from comedy to tragedy.
Hats convey many messages when worn as part of a uniform, but when worn as a fashion accessory a hat gives the wearer a feeling that only each individual wearer can explain. The wearer of a hat has an advantage over other mortals in that they appear to project an air of authority and confidence.

Visit the http://hatsuk.com/ for more interesting facts!
You will learn about hats styles and designs.

As far as I am involved, I am in love with hats and words! This is way I made a list of some sayings or proverbs about hats: they include some curious facts about how people related to them during the centuries.

  • be drawn/pulled/picked out of the/a hat

if someone's name is drawn out of a hat, they are chosen, for example as the winner of a competition, because their name is the first one that is taken out of a container containing the names of all the people involved

  •  pass the hat around

to collect money from a group of people, especially in order to buy someone a present

  • I'll eat my hat

used to emphasize that you think something is not true or will not happen

  •  be talking through your hat

British English informal if someone is talking through their hat, they say stupid things about something that they do not understand

Wearing a hat makes me feel special, as if I I lived in a different era and all suddenly become magical!

I have just read more about the history of hats and I want to share here the link.

It is interesting to see how nowadays we still feel the melancholy for vintage hats.

My favourite Spanish designer is

Joaquín Pérez Valette.

Address: Av. Diagonal, 484, 08006 Barcelona

I share here a link where I found some pictures of his gorgeous dresses!

While I was googling about Valette, I discovered the name of the photographer who had the great opportunity to work for the album of the 2010 collection: Elena Claverol.
